What is your presentation about?
This session will focus on practical strategies with closed loop systems. Exercise causes myriad issues with glucose levels — hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, and it all depends on type of exercise. My presentation will focus on practical strategies to contend with these challenges related to exercise
What makes this topic important in 2022?
Closed loop systems are uniquely different from traditional insulin pump and injection modalities of insulin delivery. Learning best practices for closed loop and exercise will be practically important for people living with diabetes.
How did you become involved with this area of diabetes research or care?
I have 17 years of diabetes technology experience in children, adolescents, and young adults with type 1 diabetes. As a certified diabetes care and education specialist and as a scientist, I am always looking for practical ways to address common lifestyle strategies where technology can be of benefit for the person with diabetes
What are you most looking forward to at the 82nd Scientific Sessions?
I am looking forward to learning new strategies to help people living with diabetes meet their goals for a healthy life!
