What is your presentation about?
Circadian rhythms allow mammals to anticipate daily environmental changes and maintain physiological homeostasis. Circadian misalignment is correlated to many metabolic diseases based on epidemiological studies. The presentation will talk about the intra- and interorgan communications of time signals able to modulate the physiological function in metabolic disorders and cancer. The understanding of these time signals, including gene expression, chromatin remodeling, epigenetics modification, translation control, and metabolites turnover under various genetic backgrounds and environmental stress exert a profound influence on human health – optimized timing for medication and meals.

We study the relationship between metabolic health and the timing of eating and drug administration.
How did you become involved with this area of diabetes research or care?
We define the mechanism of circadian control of gene expression in diet-induced obesity mouse models and could have translational applications for diabetes care regarding optimized timing for medication and meals.
What are you most looking forward to at the 82nd Scientific Sessions?
The translation from basic research on rhythmic path/physiology to clinical diabetes care.
