As the world’s premier diabetes meeting, the Scientific Sessions offers unmatched opportunities to learn about the latest cutting-edge discoveries and advancements in diabetes care and to interact with the investigators, physicians, and health care professionals driving this groundbreaking work.

More than 11,000 attendees will gather with the American Diabetes Association® (ADA) from June 5–8 in New Orleans, Louisiana, for the 2026 Scientific Sessions, with the ultimate goals of improving the lives of the millions of people living with the disease worldwide and advancing toward a cure.
“Attendees will get the most out of the Scientific Sessions by approaching the meeting with both focus and curiosity,” said Rita R. Kalyani, MD, MHS, the ADA’s Chief Scientific and Medical Officer. “Prioritizing sessions that align with your research or clinical interests helps ensure depth and relevance, but stepping outside your core area of expertise can be equally valuable, often sparking new ideas, perspectives, and potential collaborations.”
These possibilities for connection extend beyond session rooms.
“Poster sessions and panel discussions, in particular, offer a unique opportunity to engage directly with emerging science and with the investigators driving it,” Dr. Kalyani noted. “These more interactive settings allow attendees to ask questions, explore nuances not captured in formal presentations, and connect one-on-one with thought leaders and peers. Taking the time to engage in these conversations—and to follow up afterward—can extend the impact of the meeting well beyond the conference itself.”
Attendees can start planning their Scientific Sessions experience via the Online Planner. This go-to conference resource delivers information on educational sessions, speakers, networking activities, Exhibit Hall offerings, convention center amenities, meeting logistics, ADA professional membership, and more. The Scientific Sessions app will also be available for download in May.

“We encourage participants to explore the full breadth of the program before arriving, including educational offerings, poster sessions, community-building events, and tools that support customized scheduling and navigation,” Dr. Kalyani said. “Taking advantage of these resources can greatly enhance the overall experience and help attendees make the most of their time.”
And if there are educational sessions an attendee wants to revisit or isn’t able to attend in person, registered meeting participants will have on-demand access to presentations recorded in New Orleans from June 10–August 10. Registration with on-demand-only access is also available.
“Shortly after the meeting ends, you’ll be able to go online to watch recorded symposia and special lectures, read abstracts, and explore posters you may not have had a chance to see in person,” said Marlon Pragnell, PhD, the ADA’s Vice President of Research and Science. “The Scientific Sessions is a remarkably rich and diverse meeting, with so many compelling sessions across disciplines. I encourage people to follow what excites them during the meeting and then take advantage of online access afterward to explore additional sessions or revisit talks that really resonated.”
Most importantly, Scientific Sessions attendees should be prepared to engage, Dr. Kalyani said.
“The Scientific Sessions is a rare opportunity for the entire diabetes field to come together to share science, exchange ideas, and build relationships that extend well beyond the meeting,” she said.
