What is your presentation about?
This presentation will provide an overview of the influence of different types of exercise on maternal health outcomes. Additionally, it will describe preliminary data related to placental changes from prenatal exercise types. Lastly, it will provide current evidence related to the effects of exercise types on infant health outcomes.

What makes this topic important in 2022?
We are continuing to find positive changes related to exercise during pregnancy, especially for women with obesity and other gestational conditions. More importantly, there is little information related to which type of prenatal exercise is most effective at improving maternal and child outcomes. Understanding the most effective type of exercise to improve outcomes is critical for obstetric providers to know and educate their patients.

How did you become involved with this area of diabetes research or care?
I have always been interested in the influence of exercise during pregnancy on maternal and offspring outcomes. As we have continued to find benefits related to exercise during pregnancy, we have also found greater benefits in women with obesity and other gestational conditions.

What are you most looking forward to at the 82nd Scientific Sessions?
I am excited to interact with other researchers in the field. Additionally, it will be rewarding to hear what others are doing and to learn from leading researchers!
