What is your presentation about?
I will be discussing how insulin and dietary sugars contribute to cancer development and progression using uterine and colorectal cancers as examples. I will describe the use of very low carbohydrate (ketogenic) diets to lower insulin and enhance existing anti-cancer therapies.
What makes this topic important in 2021?
Dietary factors account for more than 50% of deaths worldwide, and about 10% of global cancer-related deaths. Several recent, large, prospective studies support a link among sugar, insulin, and different cancers including endometrial and colorectal cancer.
Which subset of attendees shouldn’t miss this presentation?
Clinicians, scientists, and others interested in using dietary interventions as treatment for chronic diseases like cancer.
