What is your presentation about?
It is about the various genetic studies that have identified new genetic variants associated with diabetic kidney disease, and what they tell us about the underlying biology.

What makes this topic important in 2022?
There are few therapeutic options to prevent diabetic kidney disease in people with diabetes, and few diagnostic options to identify those at risk.

How did you become involved with this area of diabetes research or care?
I have conducted large-scale genetic discovery studies in diabetes and its complications for the greater part of my career.

What are you most looking forward to at the 82nd Scientific Sessions?
Reuniting with colleagues in person.
