What is your presentation about?
The presentation will primarily address the utilization of continuous glucose-monitoring (CGM) metrics as measurement outcomes in clinical trials, exploring their advantages and limitations compared to A1C. It will delve into the practical application of CGM in clinical trials and provide examples.
What makes this topic important in 2023?
The use of CGM has significantly increased over the last decade, establishing itself as the standard of care for many people with diabetes. CGM offers a wealth of important and valuable data on glycemic control, which can greatly contribute to improved management. This highlights the need to explore its implementation in clinical studies.
How did you become involved with this area of diabetes research or care?
For over a decade, I have been actively involved in the development of new technologies, such as automated insulin delivery systems and decision support algorithms, to better manage diabetes — alongside conducting studies and treating children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes.
How do you think your presentation will impact diabetes research or care?
The entire session will focus on the implementation of CGM-related metrics to advance research, enhance clinical care, and support individuals with diabetes.
