What is your presentation about?
I am recapping the 2023 DSMES Interest Group Webinar Series from a “consumer’s” perspective. My presentation focuses on applying the information discussed in this webinar series to help enhance professional development and personal growth. Additional information on improving the value of DCESs and digital health will be shared.

What makes this topic important in 2023?
DSMES is a well-developed structure supporting people with diabetes, but the service has been underutilized. Our presentations from various aspects focus on the key points to help improve the uptake of this support system.

How did you become involved with this area of diabetes research or care?
I have always been interested in diabetes and learning how it impacts people’s lives due to witnessing my grandfather living with it for decades. Now that I have been practicing in this space for a decade, I would like to contribute more to helping people living with diabetes through clinical care and public health efforts.

How do you think your presentation will impact diabetes research or care?
The key message of my presentation is to highlight some tactics mentioned in the webinar series, from Marketing to Branding to M2 (Meaning and Money), to sustain and grow the DSMES platforms. The webinar series and the presentation were created to provide DCESs with resources and insights into enhancing their work in serving patients with diabetes.

What are you most looking forward to at the 83rd Scientific Sessions?
I am most looking forward to reconnecting with colleagues and friends. Surely, I also look forward to learning about new development in pharmacotherapies.
