Each summer, camp connects kids to adventure, to education, to mentors, to fun, and to one another. Now, more than ever, we are all in this together.

ADA Imagine Camp is an innovative program helping youth with diabetes make new friends, build confidence and independence in diabetes management, and join in traditions from camps, partners, and programs across the country!

The objectives of Imagine Camp are to:

Educate children living with diabetes, their caregivers, and health care professionals about diabetes management, tips and tools, and living well with diabetes

Engage campers and their families in activities and sessions throughout the summer

Connect children with one another, reduce feelings of isolation, increase social skills, improve confidence and independence in diabetes management, and foster friendships for life

Our program, which launched June 8, is achieving these objectives through dynamic virtual programming led by counselors and medical staff trained in our traditional tracks and also in digital program delivery, ensuring another year of safe, healthy, and fun “camping.”

Thanks to generous funding from Novo Nordisk, The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust, and longtime camp supporter Lilly Diabetes, features of ADA Imagine Camp include weekly activity challenges, diabetes education, leadership development, and the Imagine Spotlight guest speaker series, hosted by Rob Howe of Diabetics Doing Things, and co-produced by Beyond Type 1.

“We know that camp reduces feelings of isolation and loneliness for children living with diabetes and provides education and support for managing diabetes,” said Kelly Mueller, Vice President of Consumer and Community Impact for the ADA. “It’s incredible to see the change in confidence that happens when kids are connected to someone who is living a similar experience.”

And this summer is no exception. By connecting campers, staff, traditions, and communities across the country, ADA Imagine Camp is bringing the diabetes and camping partners together like never before. Join us on our newest adventure by visiting diabetes.org/imaginecamp.
