What is your presentation about?
This talk examines how insulin sensitivity and diabetes affect lipoproteins in the blood. It focuses on the contrasting behavior of apoB-containing particles and Lp(a) in metabolic disease. The goal is to understand how these differences contribute to cardiovascular risk.
How do you hope your presentation will impact diabetes research or care?
It should help reframe cardiovascular risk in diabetes by separating what is metabolically driven (apoB) from what is genetically driven (Lp(a)). That distinction can guide more precise risk stratification and therapy—targeting insulin resistance to lower apoB while recognizing when Lp(a) needs independent attention.
How did you become involved with this area of diabetes research or care?
I became involved in this area through strong mentorship and training in lipid metabolism, combined with an interest in understanding cardiovascular risk at a mechanistic level.
