What is your presentation about?
Medications for diabetes are not one-size-fits-all, thus medication regimens are designed uniquely for each person’s needs. It is common for a person with diabetes to feel stuck at times with their medications. This presentation will address the challenges associated with medications as well as strategies to overcome the stuck feeling. These strategies include simplifying regimen, de-prescribing, and using complementary technology.
How do you hope your presentation will impact diabetes research or care?
My hope is my presentation will help inform and equip health care professionals working with people with diabetes tools and techniques. Through use of these tools and techniques, the professional will guide the person with diabetes in overcoming the stuck feeling regarding medications.
How did you become involved with this area of diabetes research or care?
I became a diabetes care and educational specialist several years ago. My journey began serving as a coach for an employer-based diabetes program in central Georgia. Through many twists and turns on the journey, I developed a deep passion for working with and equipping people living with diabetes.
