Session Chair Matthew Hirschey, PhD, interviews Juleen R. Zierath, PhD, one of the speakers planned for the symposium Effect of Metabolic Stress on Insulin Action on Sunday morning, June 14. Dr. Zierath, who is the research group leader for the group Integrative Physiology at the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology and at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery, Karolinska Institutet, will present “Molecular Benefits of Exercise in Countering Metabolic Stress” at 8:40 a.m. CT. In her interview with Dr. Hirschey, she talks about her background in exercise physiology, discoveries she has worked on, unanswered questions in the field of diabetes, and her ADA presentation, which touches on metabolism and how muscle adapts to physical activity as well as circadian biology.
