What is your presentation about?
I will present our recent work on the sensory modulation of pancreatic beta-cell function. I will describe the sex-biased nature of the sensory regulation of insulin secretion and discuss the biological underpinnings of this sex difference.
What makes this topic important in 2022?
Pancreatic beta-cell function has a neuronal component that is largely understudied.
How did you become involved with this area of diabetes research or care?
Investigating the neuronal control of pancreatic beta-cell activity has been a challenging endeavor. Understanding the underlying neurobiology of insulin secretion will help us to prevent and/or reverse beta-cell dysfunction.
What are you most looking forward to at the 82nd Scientific Sessions?
