Is One Size Fits All Actually A Bad Approach?

4:30 p.m. CT Saturday, June 13

Diabetes devices are not uniformly accessible, and this is due in part to a one-size-fits-all approach that is still happening. Many diabetes care providers want to individualize care, but job constraints and mindset about who a device works best with make it difficult to individualize care. This presentation emphasizes strategies for asking about barriers and problem solving to break them down before device use, adopting a mindset that devices can likely work for most people with diabetes, and improving our own knowledge of device options. One size does not fit all, but we are not yet fully individualizing care with devices.
